About Gate Spare Parts in Oman

Gate spare parts in Oman

When a gate stops working, one part has usually failed, not the whole machine. Finding that part in Oman is normally the hard bit, which is why we keep the ones that fail on the shelf in Al Khuwair rather than ordering them from Italy when somebody asks.

We supply parts across the counter, we deliver them nationwide, and we fit them if you would rather we did.

The five things that actually fail

After enough call outs, the pattern is boringly consistent.

Control boards

The most expensive common failure and, in Oman, the most preventable. A board in a sealed casing in direct sun cooks slowly over three or four summers until the power section gives up. Usually the visible signs are a swollen capacitor or scorching around one corner.

We hold boards for the brands we carry and can source most others. Bring the old one or photograph it, because board revisions within the same model are not always interchangeable.

Photocells

The most replaced item on any gate. They get reversed into, they get knocked out of line, and the lenses go cloudy under UV. If your gate opens but will not close, this is very probably why. Sold in pairs, because a single one is no use.

Capacitors

A small cylinder inside the motor that gives it the push to start. When it fails the motor hums but does not move, or moves in one direction only. Cheap, quick to change, and mistaken for a dead motor more often than any other fault on this list.

Rollers, rack and pinions

Wear items on any sliding gate, and they wear faster here because of sand. Flat spotted rollers, rack with teeth stripped off, a pinion chewed by a misaligned rack. We stock galvanised steel rack rather than nylon, which goes brittle in Omani sun and strips.

Limit switches and springs

Limit switches tell the board where the gate ends its travel. When one fails the gate over runs or stops short. Barrier springs are matched to arm length and lose tension over time, which makes the motor lift a weight it was never meant to lift on its own.

Finding the right part

Three photographs and we can almost always identify it without you leaving the house.

  1. The model plate on the motor. Brand, model and often a serial number
  2. The board itself, with the casing open, if it is safe to do so. Board part numbers are printed on the board, not on the motor
  3. The old part, if you already have it out

Send those on WhatsApp and we will confirm the part, the price and whether it is on the shelf, before you travel anywhere.

Genuine or compatible

We will tell you honestly which one you are buying.

Photocells, capacitors and rollers are often cross compatible, and a good compatible part at half the price is a sensible purchase. Control boards usually are not, because the board holds the settings and the receiver, and a compatible board means re pairing every remote and re teaching every limit.

Where a compatible part will do the job we will say so, even though it is the cheaper sale.

Brands we hold parts for

BFT, CAME, Nice, FAAC, Beninca, Life, Sommer and Somfy on the shelf. We also source parts for Roger Technology, VDS and units with no legible label left on them at all. If it has to be ordered we tell you how long before you commit.

Fitted, or just supplied

Plenty of our parts go to installers and to people who do their own maintenance, and that is fine. Buy the part and fit it yourself.

If you would rather we did it, labour starts at OMR 10 and most repairs are one visit. See gate motor repair.
