FAAC has been making gate automation in Bologna since 1965, which makes it the oldest name in this trade. It is the brand you find on commercial and institutional entrances more often than on villas, and there is a reason for that.

Hydraulic, which is the thing to understand

A good deal of the FAAC range is hydraulic rather than electromechanical. That means fewer moving parts to wear, very smooth travel, and excellent behaviour on heavy gates and high cycle counts. It also means oil, seals and a different service routine.

Hydraulic operators handle Omani heat well because the fluid carries heat away from the mechanism. What they do not tolerate is being ignored for five years. Serviced, they outlast almost anything. Neglected, a seal goes and the unit loses its holding force.

Compounds, institutional entrances, car parks and any gate that cycles constantly. On a villa gate opening six times a day the extra cost is usually not justified, and we will say so.
