Which BFT motor suits your gate

Start with what your gate is and how heavy it is. This table narrows it to one or two models before you look at anything else.

What BT and AC mean in a BFT model name

This is the part of BFT’s naming that confuses most buyers, and it decides more than the weight rating does.

A Deimos BT A600 and a Deimos AC A600 carry the same 600 kg rating and are not the same motor. The BT keeps working during a power cut with a battery fitted. The AC does not. For a villa where the sliding gate is the only vehicle access, that difference matters more than any specification on the box.

What the number after the A means

BFT uses the same shorthand across the range, and it means two different things depending on the gate type.

• On sliding motors, the number is the gate weight in kilograms. A400 is 400 kg, A1000 is 1,000 kg, A2000 is 2,000 kg
• On swing motors, the number is the leaf length in metres, multiplied by ten. A25 is 2.5 metres, A40 is 4 metres, A50 is 5 metres

So an Athos A40 is not a 40 kg motor, it is a motor for a gate leaf up to 4 metres long. Reading it the wrong way is the most common ordering mistake we see on BFT.

BFT sliding gate motors

Deimos covers the residential range, 400 kg to 800 kg, and is the model most villa gates in Muscat end up with. Ares steps up to 1,000 and 1,500 kg for compound and light commercial entrances. Icaro Smart handles 2,000 kg for industrial gates.

All three are rack driven, so you need gate rack to match your gate leaf length. We stock both nylon and steel rack in 1 metre sections. A kit rarely includes enough rack for the full gate, so measure your leaf before ordering.

BFT swing gate motors

Athos is the articulated arm operator, and it suits gates hung on wide or deep pillars where a straight ram cannot reach. Phobos is the linear ram for leaves up to 5 metres. Kustos is the 24V ram, chosen where battery backup or frequent daily use matters.

BFT Moovi barriers

Moovi covers car park and compound entrances with booms from 3 to 6 metres. The number in the name is the boom length in metres, so Moovi 30 takes a 3 metre boom and Moovi 60 takes 6 metres. Measure the width you need to close before choosing.

BFT Mitto remotes and accessories

Mitto is BFT’s remote range, available in 2 and 4 channel versions, and the 4 channel is worth having if you also want to control a garage door or a second gate from the same fob. Compacta photocells handle the safety beam across the entrance.

One thing worth knowing before you buy a spare: BFT has revised the Mitto range over the years and not every version pairs with every receiver. Tell us your motor model and we will confirm which Mitto your board takes rather than let you find out at the gate.

Buying BFT in Oman

We hold BFT stock at Shop No 176, Way Street No 57, Block No 17/2, Al Khuwair, Muscat. You are welcome to come and see a motor before you buy it, which is not something you can do with an online only seller.

We do not take payment online. Every order is confirmed by phone or WhatsApp first, so we can check the model suits your gate before anything is dispatched. Payment is on delivery. We install across Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa, Salalah, Sur and every other governorate.

Common questions about BFT in Oman

Which BFT motor do I need for my gate?
For a sliding gate, match the model number to your gate weight in kilograms. For a swing gate, match it to your leaf length in metres. Send us both figures and we will confirm the right model.

What is the difference between BFT BT and AC models?
BT models run on 24V DC and can be fitted with a battery backup so the gate still works in a power cut. AC models run on 230V mains and stop when the power does.

Is BFT better than Nice or CAME?
All three are established Italian manufacturers and all three are reliable when correctly specified. What matters more is choosing the right weight class and having it installed properly, which is where most failures actually start.

Do you supply BFT spare parts in Oman?
Yes. We stock rack, photocells, limit switches, remotes and control boards for the BFT range at our Al Khuwair shop.

Do you install BFT motors across Oman?
Yes. Our own engineers install in every governorate, and we survey the gate before quoting so the model matches the job.
