LiftMaster’s own guidance for this region states the LM80EV is not suited to a garage with an open roof structure, meaning a carport or garage where the space above the door and its rail is not fully covered.

If your garage is a fully enclosed room with a solid roof over the whole door and rail, this unit is well suited. If your garage is more open to the sky above the track, tell us before ordering and we will advise on a better fit.
The model name refers to thrust, not door weight
The “80” in LM80EV tracks its 800 N pulling force, not the weight of door it lifts. The actual maximum door weight is 130 kg. It is easy to assume the two numbers are the same thing, and they are not.
LiftMaster also sells this motor under closely related suffixes, LM80EVF and LM80EVX, in other markets. This listing is the standard LM80EV. If you are ever matching a manual or a spare part against your unit, check the full suffix on the rating label rather than just “LM80”.

Installation
