The Life Optimo OP5 UNI is an Italian 230V swing gate motor kit for double leaf gates. It takes leaves up to 5 metres long. Many seller pages call it a 900 kg motor. A longer leaf puts more load on the motor, so the allowed weight falls. Some listings print 900 kg and 5 metres together. We have not seen a Life document that rates a 5 metre leaf at 900 kg. The OP5 UNI uses a mechanical stop to set the opening and closing limits. The standard OP5 uses an encoder instead. Life also makes slow versions, called OP5L, that open in 45 seconds. The control board setup differs between them, so check the model before you swap a board.
Life Optimo OP5 UNI duty cycle and working time
Life gives the OP5 UNI a 35% duty cycle and a nominal working time of 10 minutes. The motor has thermal protection that trips at 140°C. The Life Optimo OP5 UNI suits a family villa. A shared gate that opens all day needs a different motor, so ask us before you buy.
Life Optimo OP5 UNI and salt air in Oman
The motor works from minus 20°C to plus 70°C and is rated IP54. IP54 covers dust that cannot harm the motor, and splashing water. Life’s manual lists use in acid, saline or explosive places as not allowed. Much of Oman’s coast has salt air. Tell us how close the gate is to the sea, and we will advise before you order.

Installing a Life Optimo OP5 UNI swing gate motor in Oman
Both Life Optimo OP5 UNI motors fix to the gate pillars with the supplied brackets. The pillar needs enough free space beside the motor, or a niche cut into it. Our engineer sets the mechanical stops, wires both motors to the control unit and pairs the photocells and remotes. Then we test the full cycle and measure the impact force. Life asks for a test by a professional fitter every 6 months.
