A25 means a 2.5 metre leaf, the same logic as our sliding range
BFT’s swing gate naming works the same way as the sliding range already explained on our BFT brand page: the number after the A is the leaf length in metres, multiplied by ten. A25 means a leaf up to 2.5 metres, and separately this motor is rated to 400 kg. Both figures apply, so a leaf within the length but over the weight, or the reverse, is still outside this motor’s rating.
This kit includes two motors, built for a double leaf gate
As supplied, this is a pair kit, one motor for each leaf of a double swing gate, sharing a single ALENA SW2 control panel. If your gate has only one leaf, you do not need both motors from this kit, tell us before ordering and we will confirm what a single leaf setup actually needs, since buying the pair kit for one gate leaf wastes half of it.
IPX4, and why the X matters more than the 4
This motor carries an IPX4 rating, not IP44. The difference is not a smaller number, it is a missing one. The second digit, 4, is a real, confirmed figure covering protection against splashing water. The first digit is replaced with an X, which in the IP rating system means no test has been carried out or published for that category at all, in this case solid particle and dust ingress.
That is a genuinely different situation from a motor carrying IP24 or IP44, where a dust figure exists even if a modest one. Here there simply is none. In a climate where blown sand is routine, that is worth knowing plainly rather than assuming an untested rating means no risk. We would recommend siting this motor where it has some shelter from direct sand exposure, and checking it periodically rather than treating it as fully sealed.

Semi intensive suits a normal villa gate comfortably. For a shared or compound entrance opening far more often, ask us about a heavier duty BFT swing motor instead.
