The Somfy Elixo 800 230V RTS is a French sliding gate motor. It takes gates up to 800 kg and 10 metres. It runs straight from the 230V mains. Somfy’s manual asks for an active safety edge on the gate, and the kit does not include one. We stock the kit in Al Khuwair for OMR 192.000 and fit it across Oman.
Somfy Elixo 800 safety edge: what the kit does not include
Somfy’s manual lists safety edges as the protection against crushing at the closing end of the gate. To meet EN 12453, it asks for an active safety edge with its own self test electronics.
The kit has photocells, which stop the gate when something breaks the beam. A safety edge protects the leading edge of the gate itself. After fitting the edge, Somfy requires a force measurement to EN 12445. We quote the edge with the installation, so the price is clear before we start.

Somfy rates the Elixo for residential sliding gates, under standard EN 60335 2 103. Its manual gives no daily limit for the 800. If your gate runs all day, tell us before you order.

The 3S suits a lighter gate that needs battery power in a cut. The 800 suits a heavier gate. See our Somfy Elixo 500 3S RTS for the lighter pack.
Torque, handing and closing speed
You set the motor torque to 100, 75, 50 or 25% with switches on the control board. The opening direction is also a switch, so one motor fits a left or right opening gate.
The gate slows to 33% of normal speed as it reaches the closed position. Automatic closing can be set from 0 to 120 seconds.
Somfy Elixo 800 in Oman heat, dust and salt air
Somfy lists the motor for minus 20°C to plus 60°C, rated IP44. Some seller pages say IP24 and 24V DC. Somfy’s manual gives IP44 and a 230V supply. IP44 covers splashes but not fine dust, so keep the rail and rack clear.

The motor uses Somfy RTS radio on 433.42 MHz and remembers 128 channels. Seller pages say 36. Existing Somfy RTS remotes can be added. Tell us the model.

Installing a Somfy Elixo 800 sliding gate motor in Oman
Our engineer checks the rail, wheels and gaps first. We fix the motor, then set the rack about 2 mm clear of the pinion along the whole gate.
Then we fit the limit brackets, the photocells and the safety edge, and set the torque. The motor learns the gate travel in a learning cycle. Last, we measure the gate force to EN 12445.

Does the Somfy Elixo 800 need a safety edge?
Somfy’s manual asks for an active safety edge to meet EN 12453. The kit does not include one, so we quote it with the installation.
Is the Somfy Elixo 800 a 24V motor?
No. It runs on 220 to 230V mains, at up to 300 W. Some seller pages list 24V DC, but Somfy’s manual does not.
Which is better, the Somfy Elixo 800 or the Elixo 500 3S?
The 800 is for heavier gates, up to 800 kg against 500 kg. The 3S includes a back up battery for power cuts.
What does the Somfy Elixo 800 kit cost?
OMR 192.000 for the kit with motor, photocells, two remotes, flashing light and 4 metres of rack. The safety edge is quoted separately. Payment is cash on delivery.
